Why I’m Blogging for Fun and Refusing to Be Put in a Box

When I started thinking about building my blog into more than just a portfolio, everyone seemed to have the same advice: “Find your niche.”
The idea was that before you even write a word, you need to figure out that one thing you’re going to be known for, that specific topic that will define your entire blog. It’s supposed to make your content more focused, your audience more loyal, and your path to success more straightforward.
But here’s the thing—I’m not interested in being put into a box.
I’ve always been curious about a lot of different things. One day, I might be fascinated by the intersection of color theory and the music industry and the next, I might want to write about a random life experience or maybe I'll share a creative piece that I've been working on.
My interests are broad and constantly evolving, and the idea of limiting myself to just one topic felt suffocating.
Blogging Without Boundaries
When I asked myself why I wanted to start a blog in the first place, the answer wasn’t about becoming an expert in one particular field or building a brand. It was about fun.
I wanted a space where I could explore whatever was on my mind, share my thoughts, and maybe even connect with others who felt the same way. I've also always loved web design and getting to have a space where I have full control over how it looks is just as much of a creative outlet for me as writing is.
Blogging, for me, isn’t about following rules or sticking to a formula. It’s about embracing the freedom to write about whatever excites me at any given moment. I don’t want to feel like I have to stay within the lines of a single niche.
If I’m passionate about something, I want to write about it—regardless of whether it fits into some predetermined category.
